Increasingly, as winter and darkness had started to steal over London, I too had felt the need to once again explore my darker side. The tincture to prepare my potion was prepared and it was the matter of but a few moments to effect the change. With much thought I had convinced myself that my worries about Hyde were largely unfounded. What mattered if I didn't always have perfect recall of his activities? He was still only a part of me, a mere facet, and the whole of Jekyll was infused with good which would certainly inhibit Hyde from performing any truly wicked act. However, the more pressing need was for me not to wake once again in my cabinet covered in blood. It was hard to explain to my servants when they took the clothes for washing, and should they talk, it could lead to great damage to the reputation of Doctor Jekyll.

With this in mind I had come to a decision and so for the first time entered my work-room and took the potion during daylight hours. Strangely the first draught did nothing for me, but a second brew affected the usual change and all faded to grey.
