Of course, I knew immediately the argument of which he spoke, it had been much on my mind since I had received the invitation to this evening's gathering. Like him, I did not wish to rerun the quarrel, but I would be lying if I did not admit that it gratified me to hear him admit, even if after all this time, that I had been correct. I did not understand his reference to what he had been 'taught' but his demeanour did not allow for an interjection on my part, and I continued to listen.

'And so, before we are joined by my other guest, let me extend my hand to you once again in a spirit of friendship and reconciliation.' He held his hand out and I rose from my chair grasping it in both of mine. I shook it and felt a broad smile split my face.

'Henry. Even when we have disagreed on matters of science, it has been a pleasure to know you. I now find it even more of a pleasure to once again count you my friend.' With which, I broke our handshake and embraced him, feeling his arms also close tightly round my shoulders.
