I ran round the corner, head down and legs moving as quickly as they could, and looked up with just enough time to see the monster. Its eyes were flaming and smoke was coming from its nose. Its legs and arms were moving in great jerks like the pistons on a train, and I had no time even to cry out before it was on me. It brought its great clawed hands down on me, knocking me onto the floor, then it trampled me with its giant boots. It hurt! I could hear my bones breaking as he stamped on me, laughing and growling.

I screamed and screamed and screamed and the world started to fade to grey, but all I could hope was that the doctor would get to Mother before the monster did.
