In 1997 I started a small press magazine called The Literary Proposition. This ran for 4 occasional issues until the summer of 1999 when its name was changed to Writer's Muse and it started to come out 6 times a year. I was editor up to issue 16 (March 2002) when, due to the pressure of studying for my PhD and teaching at the university, I handed over editing duties to my colleague Jim Palmer. He carried it on, with me still taking care of type-setting, printing and distribution, until issue 22 (March 2003) when the magazine was to cease. We edited this final issue together.
However, in 2004, Jim Palmer decided to resurrect the Muse and it continues to this day. As of January 2008, as I relaunch my career as a man of letters, I am taking over running the website for the magazine and will be helping out with editorial duties. In addition, I have been asked to be a judge on a short story competition that the magazine is running.
The website for the Writer's Muse can be found at www.writersmuseonline.com.
