Editing

For seven years I was editor of my own small press, CK Publishing. Initially we published only the Writer's Muse magazine (originally called The Literary Proposition). However, with the success of that publication we started to branch out, first into chapbooks and then later into perfect bound editions. For each of these I was commissioning and line editor, seeing the books from manuscript to finished item on the shelves of bookshops.

Titles included:

Anne Droyd and Century Lodge - a children's book by Will Hadcroft

It Never Rains in Italy - a travel book by David Critchley

Tap-dancing's Out Then? - a memoir of life with MS by Gary Campbell.

Summum Bonum - a novella about a young man's coming of age by Mark Perkins.

Stung - a collection of poetry by David Aldred.

Intrigues, Imaginings and Interludes - three collections of short stories with the themes of crime/mystery, sci-fi/horror, and romance.

Following the demise of CK Publishing in 2004, I worked mostly as a teacher and lecturer, but in 2008 I returned to freelance editing. I have now edited a collection of short stories called The Bride Stripped Bare by Rachel Kendall for Dog Horn Publishing which will be published later in 2009, and a fantasy novella called The King's Ransom by John Gill which will be published soon by chapterbook.co.uk.

I am also in talks for two more freelance editing contracts, details of which I will post once they are confirmed.

If you would like more information, or would like to engage me as a freelance editor, please contact me via the email address as detailed on the home page.
